Greenwell’s Spider
The Greenwell’s Spider is a great traditional northen fly. Another great fly from Mike Harding’s book on Northern Spider Patterns. The Greenwell’s Spider is a general purpose olive imitation, either a dun or a nymph. This is a very important artificial fly world-wide.
The Greenwell’s spider uses soft Greenwell hen hackle to make a spider version of this old favorite first designed by Canon Greenwell. This is a favorite fly for late summer when the river is low and the evenings long.
